Lack of Blu-ray support on Mac and 1080p Full-HD playback capacity are burning pains of Apple. Even regardless of gaming console ability, Apple TV can not pose any threat to PS3 or Xbox due to stunning HD quality video support of latter two devices. But now, if this test managed to be manufacturing, iTunes will give a punch to the competitive landscape includes other streaming devices like Roku with versions that can support 1080p as well as more Blu-ray players and TVs that can stream Netflix in HD.

What is the difference between HD and Full-HD？

Popular HD video resolution is 720p, 1080i and 1080p, while 1080p (1920 x 1080 progressive scanning video) is also called Full-HD video. So far iTunes, iPhone and iPad and Apple TV can only playback video with up to 720p resolution. Below is comparison chart of 1080p / 720p / 480p video quality:

Will 1080p Full-HD video arrives on iPhone 5 or iPad 3?

In other word, will iOS5 brings support of Full-HD video content? We say: not likely! Though 720p can improve the quality of colors and smoothness of images on a small display over 480i/p images, 1080p has no real advantage on displays smaller than 32 inches. So having 1080p support on iPhone 5 or iPad 3 is totally useless. Paying extra for a feature that does not give any kind of benefit. Someone believes A5 must give customers much faster computing experience, but if Apple needs 1080p video on mobile, A4 chip can do this without any doubt.
